Several days post the powerful storm struck Jamaica's western region with historic intensity, residents in devastated communities in coastal zones are persistently anticipating for help.

Multiple routes are clogged with rubble and people are isolated with scarce supplies, no power or running water, and uncertainty about recovery timelines.

Growing Fatalities

Authorities confirmed on the weekend that no fewer than 28 individuals in Jamaica have lost their lives following the hurricane's impact as a devastating Category 5 hurricane with winds reaching 185 mph.

This marks approximately half again as many in the fatalities within a day, and figures may increase as workers advance into additional regions in the near future.

Regional Impact

Westmoreland parish is thought to contain the second-most instances of potential fatalities, after St Elizabeth to the southeastern area. The cyclone's core made landfall around the adjacent regions. At St Elisabeth an estimated 90% of homes have been wrecked.

Located below the structure of a severely compromised structure, a local man said he has experienced complete loss, but "we have to just keep the faith and positive outlook continues"

Agricultural Impact

Similar attitude appears demonstrated by Oreth Jones, located in his transport selling pears, pumpkins, and sweet potatoes – his final agricultural products that was saved from destruction.

Regarding his agricultural land, he said: "Everything is destroyed. Complete demolition happened" But he immediately added: "We must express gratitude for survival"

Global Support

At the same time, external support is commencing delivery into Jamaica.

United States officials declared that its emergency relief unit had reached the island. And countries including the UK have also committed substantial financial assistance and emergency supplies.
