Alpine star Lindsey Vonn has declared she will be "perfectly prepared" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, following earning a place on the rostrum for the fourth time in five World Cup events.

The veteran athlete, who achieved a milestone by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, finished third in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This marked her 142nd career World Cup top-three result.

Strong Return in Val d'Isere

Competing at the iconic venue for the first time in almost a decade, Vonn crossed the line in a time of 1:20.60. She was just over a third of a second behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking the runner-up spot.

"I didn't quite have the right line on the first jump," Vonn said. "After that, I skied well. I'm satisfied with my performance today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was not aggressive enough."

This performance was her second podium at Val d'Isere during the event, having also taken third in the downhill on Saturday.

An Incredible Return from Retirement

Vonn officially retired in early 2019 due to persistent injuries. However, she returned to racing in late 2024 following a major knee surgery.

With less than two months remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are set to run from February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are highly promising.

She boasts one gold and two Olympic bronze medals from previous Games and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the 2026 Games.

"In Cortina, I will be in a good place," Vonn affirmed.

Chasing More Titles

In addition to her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four World Cup titles she has won over a professional journey spanning 20 years.

She currently holds a substantial lead at the summit of the downhill World Cup rankings and is ranked fifth in the overall super-G standings.

This current World Cup circuit features a nine more events taking place before the season finals in Norway on March 21st, 2026.
