Netflix Chooses Ideal Star for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season
Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the major clash isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a cherished, popular member has just been cast.
The platform declared Tuesday that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Bentham. This character has the ability to change into an exact copy of anyone they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. The actor, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that character re-envisioned as non-binary, rather than as a drag queen, in the live-action series, differing from the source material and animated series.
Escola will work alongside a number of new cast members tasked with bringing the organization to the screen, such as head the main antagonist, portrayed by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and a familiar face, who will appear as the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the fictional land.
Though Bon Clay is a key figure of the organization, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this represents a notable change in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could indicate more adjustments to the narrative framework.
The actor’s combination of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the role. In addition to their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is due to premiere for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
