Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
