People have gathered throughout the country to mark two years since the Hamas-conducted attack on that fateful day in October 2023, as talks continued in Egypt over a resolution to the conflict in Gaza.

The attack led to more than 1,200 people killed and 251 others abducted back to Gaza as captives. It was the single most lethal day for the Jewish community since the World War II.

Israel reacted by initiating a armed campaign in Gaza which has claimed more than 67,000 people, according to the region's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its figures are considered trustworthy by the United Nations and other world agencies.

"Our aggressive enemies have struck forcefully, but they have not overcome us," the leader added on that day.

He also vowed to "realize all the aims of the war: the return of all the kidnapped, the destruction of the Hamas regime and the guarantee that Gaza will no longer create a risk to Israel".

Remembrance Ceremonies Across Israel

The national leadership postponed official remembrance events until 16 October - after the end of the Jewish High Holiday season - but events still occurred throughout the country on Tuesday.

A remembrance service for the families of Israeli citizens who lost their lives in the Hamas attack was organized in the coastal city. Organized by the affected families, it was broadcast across Israeli television channels.

A period earlier, a moment of silence was held across the country.

Negotiation Meetings in Egypt

Simultaneously, Israeli and Hamas negotiating teams met in the Egyptian tourist destination of the negotiation venue for a follow-up session of third-party negotiations to examine the conditions of the agreement.

A high-ranking representative involved in the negotiations indicated that an late session of indirect talks started at 7 PM local time.

The representative explained the day's discussions concluded without tangible results, due to conflicting views over the proposed Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas wants to make certain Israel does not resume hostilities after the first phase of the arrangement.

He noted that the negotiations are "challenging and have not yet achieve any significant progress," but noted that facilitators are working hard to close the differences between the both parties.

Key Matters in Talks

  • A lasting halt to fighting
  • The trade of the hostages still kept by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The removal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Plans for assistance deliveries
  • After-conflict governance of the region

Citizen Feeling

In the city's public square earlier, 29-year-old a woman - whose family member endured the incident on the Nova music festival, where hundreds were murdered and dozens more were taken hostage by Hamas gunmen - explained: "Nowhere appears as home now and until every captive are released none of us will feel safe."

"When we see everybody home once more, we can feel relief anew. Then we can commence heal," she concluded.

Near the prime minister's home in Jerusalem, people congregated to show their backing for the relatives of the hostages. Israel says nearly fifty remain in confinement in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are believed to be living.

Protester Atalia Regev remarked: "We need do whatever arrangement necessary for the hostages to come back home. But we truly desire assurances that we will be safe."

Surveys now frequently demonstrate that about the majority of Israelis prefer the war to end in exchange for the release of the hostages.

Palestinian Situation

At the area of the gathering, mourners gathered to pay their respects.

From that location, the sound of military attacks and shelling could be noticed just a short distance away in Gaza, where witnesses said the heavy Israeli bombardment carried on.

In the urban center, air and artillery strikes were noted in the early hours of that day in the west side district, sector and Nasr areas and in the eastern district of the community, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwestern area.

"When the night arrives, the anxiety appears with it," evacuated urban resident a mother, whose teenage son was lost his life by an Israeli aerial attack earlier, shared.

"Me and my three children are terrified of the air strikes. Throughout the evening we are resting together, clinging, notably my little child who puts his head on me the entire evening."

"Constantly we monitor the updates to see developments. And I'm afraid that this halt will not be completed and that the fighting will return to us."

Health Crisis

Al-Shifa hospital in the urban area reported it had received the corpses of half dozen people by the daytime, including three killed in an Israeli strike in the southern district.

A different healthcare center in the south region of the city reported another two dead people had been transported. One of them was killed by Israeli soldiers while seeking help to the south region, medics stated.

The region's health ministry announced 25 of the {territ
