Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the United States has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
