It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defense and Josh Allen trying to do too much to rescue his squad out of it - not the calm, controlled, well-balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year

The Dolphins have served up a varied performances this season so the verdict is uncertain on if this is the beginning of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the American Football Conference East

The Colts also play the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two games with the five and four Jaguars to face. There is a long way to go but the opportunity is available for a shock top seed in the AFC

Two teams with solid claims to be superior to all of the three 8-2 teams are NFC West opponents the Seattle and Rams, who both put up 40 burgers to go to seven and two before next week's major meeting between the two in Los Angeles

Both have secured four victories in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Stafford and Darnold performing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with top receivers, and defensive units giving up fewer than twenty points a contest

Both could easily be undefeated as too - especially the Los Angeles as their two defeats came in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning kick with the final play blocked and run back by the Eagles for a score

The Seahawks were also defeated to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before losing to the final play of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they're truly two of the top teams in the NFL

The upcoming game on Sunday could be the best of the year to date
